The African Concert Series at the wonderful Wigmore Hall is a beautiful day of fabulous music going beyond being simply brilliant musicians playing the well researched music. It is a special experience with an audience that reflects the breadth of the music and a mind expansion as well as a pleasure. I am excited to be able to share this magic on air in tandem with Rebeca Omordia.”

The African Concert Series

The African Concert Series is a pioneering initiative based in London that showcases the works of both historical and contemporary Black classical composers from Africa and the diaspora. Launched in 2019 by British-Nigerian pianist Rebeca Omordia to create a platform for African classical music.

Residency: Since the 2022/23 season, the series has held a residency at Wigmore Hall, moving from its original venues at the October Gallery and the Africa Centre.
The goal of the series is to challenge eurocentric narratives of classical music and highlight the cultural diversity of the African continent through performance and education.
